Janie Rothfield is a world-traveling professional traditional-style musician who has been teaching fiddle and clawhammer banjo to all ages and abilities for over 30 years at festivals, workshops, and music camps around the world. Her easy-to-learn approach combines technique, musicality, and strategies for making it easier for you to play better and have more fun with music. In this workshop, Janie will teach 1-2 tunes for fiddlers and clawhammer banjo players who have several years experience playing their instrument and are able to play at a moderate speed. The focus of the class will be to help you play with more rhythm and musicality, how to play easier by ear and play in a jam. No previous experience with old-time music necessary. Janie is experienced in both northern and southern old-time styles. Please bring recording devices (audio and video), notebook, instruments and accessories, a cushion and a smile (chocolate is always nice, too). Janie will have copies of her CD’s for purchase. For more information contact Janie email@example.com. This workshop is part of the “Instrumental Stories” exhibit program series.
