Sue Ulrich
Sue’s formal education and employment had no relationship to her basket weaving. She received a BA in journalism from Syracuse University, and a Masters in Business Management from SUNY Binghamton. She has been a reporter, and owner of Central Adirondack Textiles which shipped merchandise all over the world.
Sue’s interest in basket weaving began over 30 years ago when she was the director of the Dodge-Pratt-Northam Art and Community Center in Boonville. She met a basket maker and subsequently took all of her classes. She advanced her weaving skills by studying with Marcia Walligory, Flo Hope and many of the great teachers at the Stowe Basket Festival.
Her baskets are made of reed, but she has occasionally made labor-intensive Black Ash baskets.
