Catherine LaPointe Vollmer, Potsdam, NY

Catherine LaPointe Vollmer grew up in the North Country.  She earned her BFA in illustration at Syracuse University, completed internships with the Florence International Theatre Company in Italy and the Illustration House in NYC, and then returned home to run a studio on a freelance basis.  She is a fine artist, book cover designer, and poster artist.  

It wasn’t until she began visiting the National Parks that she paid more attention to the natural beauty surrounding her in the North Country.  This led to a new interest in Plein Air painting: Exploring in depth areas she would previously have driven by to discover what makes them special to the people who love them.
