Dan Berggren takes us on a musical guided tour through the back roads of North Country folklife, exploring the stories and songs of lumberjacks, farmers, poets and people just trying to get by.
Dan is a tradition-based songsmith who writes with honesty, humor and a strong sense of place. With roots firmly in the Adirondacks where he was raised on land that has been in the family for five generations, his music has branched out across many borders in the U.S.and overseas. The award-winning musician and educator held various jobs before devoting his life to music full-time: Working as a forest ranger, surveyor, radio producer, and writer and announcer for the Armed Forces Network Europe. He was a professor of audio and radio studies for 27 years at the State University at Fredonia. Dan is currently a Trustee Emeritus of Great Camp Sagamore, co-host and co-producer of Caffe Lena’s weekly online children’s program Folk Club Kids, and owner of Sleeping Giant Records, which has produced over twenty albums of original and traditional folk music.
