Pre-schoolers and their caregivers are invited to join Fiddler Gretchen Koehler for a special musical storytime. Featuring both active listening and groovin’ to the beat, this session will include a charming story, simple folk dances, and end with a sweet fiddle lullaby.
TAUNY Heritage Award recipient Gretchen Koehler fell in love with the fiddle as a little girl when she realized she could cleverly negotiate out of cleaning her room if she promised to practice everyday. As a grown up, she shares her love of traditional fiddling with audiences all over NY State and with her fiddle students, “The Madstop Fiddlers”, a Potsdam based ensemble of kindergarteners to great-grandparents.
“This program is made possible in part by the Nancy Wilder Palmateer Memorial Fund. The fund was established by the Palmateer and Wilder families in 2015 to honor the creative side of Nancy Wilder Palmateer, to recognize her work with children, and to encourage hands-on engagement for young people.”
