Folk songwriter and musician Robin Dow Hopper will lead a 3 hour workshop featuring songwriting prompts and activities with the students. She will discuss various melodies and how to build them, as well as other basic songwriting structures and techniques. Robin’s work has gained notice in songwriting competitions over the years. She received honorable mention in the Northern California Songwriter’s Association Song Contest, and has been a four-time Top Five Finalist in the Alaska Public Radio Network’s Song of the Year Contest. She was named Overall Winner in the APRN Song of the Year Contest for her “Ring Around the Moon”.
This workshop is open to all experience levels. Ages 10 and up. Children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Participants are invited to bring their instruments.
Musician, singer and songwriter Robin Dow Hopper will be performing live at the TAUNY Center on June 28th at 7pm. Her music is a mixture of her own stories and songs of the North Country in “easy listening” folk tradition.
