Class #1: Shannon will demonstrate the process of rolling and cutting clay to form a tile.  Each participant will then roll and cut a smaller coaster size version of their tile, to get the experience of the process.  A trivet size tile will be provided that is ready to decorate.  The participants will choose from a selection of summer botanicals to decorate their tile.  

Class #2: The fully dried tile will be glazed by the participants.  After the second class the pieces will be fired, and returned to the participants when ready.

Ceramic Artist Shannon Rock opened her pottery studio Serene Reflections in 2023.  She has a master’s degree in psychology, and has worked with intellectually and developmentally challenged individuals using art as an alternative form of expression.  Her techniques include hand-built, wheel thrown and molds for slip casting.  Because of her love of the outdoors and hiking, she often incorporates native botanicals in her pottery.  Shannon was one of TAUNY’s “Next Generation” of Spotlighted Artists.
